Landscape Designs and Water Features

Every week, the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC) provides its online readers with a very helpful landscape maintenance tip. We ran across this week’s tip and felt that it was really worth sharing. This week the ALCC provides a checklist for homeowners to consider before they incorporate water features in their landscape design.

Here are some of the tips from the ALCC.

Water Feature Placement

Before you decide to install a water feature, you shouldB consider where the water feature will fit into your landscape design. Water features should be placed in a central position to your outdoor living space. The feature should be a focal point in your landscape design.

Water Feature Size

Select a water feature that is appropriate for the size of your landscape and the space that the water feature will occupy.

Water Conservation

To conserve the amount of water your feature uses, you may opt for a pond-less water feature. Pond-less water features allow the water to re-circulate instead of pooling at a particular point.

Use Water Plants

Water plants lower the maintenance costs that you incur while using a water feature. Water plants aid in keeping the water in your water feature clean.

Here are some photos of water features that we’ve completed in some of our previous landscape projects.
