Incorporating ornamental grass into your landscape is a perfect way to add visual appeal and color. In addition to enhancing the look of your landscape, ornamental grasses can be used as ground cover, and can be implemented in areas with dry climates.
Ornamental grasses that flourish well in the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado include buffalo grass (Buchloe dactyloides) and blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis). While ornamental grasses are great native plants to implement in your landscape, proper care should still be adhered to. Research from the Colorado State University suggests that ornamental grasses be located in places in which they can receive three to five hours of sunlight each day. It’s also important to periodically cut back some of the ornamental grass.
